Calcium is a type of mineral presented on the earth and can be consumed through food. It is a necessity of the human body to perform a bunch of tasks properly. 

Human body has bones and teeth that are made up of calcium. Even 99.99% of the calcium of a human presented in the bones and teeth. 

Calcium helps our body in blood clotting and proper functioning of heart.

Our body loses calcium through urine, hairs, sweat, skin, nails, and face. Also, our body doesn’t produce calcium internally. Hence, we consume it through food. 

Calcium absorption can be improved with the consumption of vitamin D. Vitamin D plays a crucial role in the absorption of calcium. 

The most important factor of calcium is when a body doesn't get enough calcium from the food it starts absorbing calcium from bones.

How Much Calcium Do You Need?

Calcium is a mineral which can disturb your body systems if it is taken in an excessive amount than the recommended dose. 

A woman with the age of 51 or under 51 should consume 1000 mg calcium per day whereas a woman with the age of 51 or above should consume 1200 mg per day.

A man with the age of 70 or under 70 should consume 1000 mg calcium per day whereas a man with the age of 71 or above should consume 1200 mg per day. 

Note: consuming 1000 mg calcium in one dose is not a good choice. Instead of this, you should consume 1000 mg or 1200 mg calcium in small doses for better absorption.

If you’re consuming excessive calcium than the recommended dose then these are the side effects you may face:-
